I had great time doing this portrait session with Kat & Chris, along with another couple [next blog post!]. Such a cute and fun couple. The light wasn’t the greatest for shooting, but we made it work, finding nice shade where we could. We walked through forested paths, across bridges and across rocks. Whoo hoo! I’ve got myself organized. I realized that room in the basement I was using, was just getting to be, too much. Too dark. My eyes aren’t liking it. Too many long hours in artificial light. And then I realised that this other room would work. It’s still in the basement, but at least there’s a small window.

Portraits are very difficult when it comes to ‘regular’ people. People like me, who don’t necessarily like having their picture taken or who feel uncomfortable in front of the camera. You have to know how to direct people, yet still be able to have them feel natural and relaxed so you can capture a genuine image. Here’s a peek from a shoot I did recently. I met her over the weekend, during the Unity Movie rehearsal. I can emphatically say, there is NO dog more energetic than she. Really. This picture BELIES her hyper energy and speed. She can deke like no-body’s business!
