I bought a book! Ya, I did say that with a little bit of excitement. Because it’s been a long time, since I’ve been excited about reading.
Now, I might be, getting a bit ahead of myself, ’cause I’ve bought books before and in fact I used to be a HUGE bookworm and somehow along the way I stopped reading on a regular basis. I went from a book or two a week, to not having read anything, well, in a really long time. But today, I bought a book! And I really have the intention of reading it. More so, in buying the book, today I had that reminiscent feeling of the whole ritual of it all. Not only that I like reading, but I like the process of going into a bookstore and browsing the shelves, looking at all the titles. Looking at the names and trying to guess, “Would I like that book?” Reading the first page and seeing if I like the writing style and the tone and the story. And I think back to when I was young and I used to go to the library every Saturday. And I’d invariably, check out the maximum number of books I was allowed; 13. And as I chose those books, I was always reminded that, you do, you do judge a book by its cover. The axiom is that you shouldn’t, but in reality I did. It was the cover that drew me to the book along with the title and if it looked interesting enough, I would pick it up and I’d read the first page. Now, if the first page wasn’t good, it didn’t matter how good-looking the book was, I wouldn’t read it, but that definitely was a factor in how do I choose from literally thousands of books. So, today I bought a book. I chose it somewhat hastily I must admit, but you know what, it’s a step and I think I’m going to enjoy reading this book.
Love it – happy for you! One of the best gifts I ever received was a kindle, but nothing beats going to the bookstore/library, being surrounded by books, choosing some, leaving with them, and turning their pages! #lovetheprocess
